Blackjack Tables and Betting Options

At our Calgary venue we run 32 gaming tables, and blackjack is really at the centre of it. Standard blackjack starts from a C$5 minimum bet. Free Bet Blackjack and Hand-Held EZ Baccarat use the same C$5 entry point. For players who prefer to wager more, the High Limit Room is open from noon until 3 AM.

Table games operate daily from 9:30 AM right through to 5 AM. Evenings and weekends are busy, so it is normal to see full tables during those peak periods. All play is in Canadian Dollars only. Chips are available at the cashier cage starting from C$5 denominations.

In Free Bet Blackjack, we cover the extra wager when you double down on a hard 9, 10 or 11 - the house puts up the additional stake. The trade-off is important to remember: if the dealer hits 22, the hand pushes instead of busting. Strategy is slightly different from regular blackjack because of that rule. Hand-Held EZ Baccarat removes the usual commission on banker wins, but banker winning with a three-card seven results in a push.

Learn to Play Sessions

If you are new to blackjack, we run short 30-minute sessions on the floor. Our dealers go through hand values, when players usually hit or stand, how doubling down works, and what to look for when splitting pairs. You can book at the front desk or with floor staff, and there is no fee for taking part.

During these sessions we hand out practice chips so you can play through sample hands without risking real money. We also provide printed strategy charts for hard totals, soft totals, and pair situations. Once the lesson finishes, you can move over to a live C$5 table and put that information into practice. We host similar introductions for roulette, craps and poker, but blackjack training stays with the standard game only.

Other Table Games

Besides blackjack, we spread roulette with minimum bets from C$0.50, regular craps from Wednesday to Saturday between 7 PM and 3 AM, and Face-Up Pai Gow Poker. Ultimate Texas Hold’em is also available, with players going against the dealer using fixed betting rounds and standard poker hand rankings, which keeps the pace quicker than a cash poker game.

Our poker room is open 24 hours and runs separately from the main pit. We offer No Limit Hold’em cash tables and tournaments, with buy-ins usually starting around C$75 and going up to C$300 depending on the event type. Pot-Limit Omaha games are opened when there is enough interest, most often in the evening. A Bad Beat Jackpot is funded by the rake and can climb up to C$100,000.

Poker guests receive 40% off at The Centre Eatery and have access to unlimited coffee and soft drinks during play when using the Poker Atlas rewards program. The room holds up to 50 players and is equipped with automatic shufflers and digital blind timers. It is worth keeping in mind that Calgary Flames home games at the Saddledome can limit poker seat availability because of capacity.

Slots and Progressives

On the slots floor we host over 370 machines from providers such as IGT, Light and Wonder, Konami and Shuffle Master. Bets typically range from C$0.01 per line up to C$5 on standard machines, with higher limits offered in the High Limit Room. The slot area is non-smoking and set apart from live table games.

Progressive jackpots are linked through Alberta’s casino network. Diamond Millions frequently goes past C$1 million. Over time, we have paid more than C$1.5 million on these networked progressive games. Local progressives like Jackpot Junction and Alberta Gold reset at lower starting amounts.

Video lottery terminals are placed in a dedicated section with more than 20 machines running at C$8.80 minimum play. For players who prefer digital tables, our Digital Gaming Pit offers electronic versions of table games for touchscreen play or when live tables feel too busy.

Payment and Loyalty Cards

Cash, card and chip transactions are all handled at the main cashier cage. Winnings on slots and VLTs are printed as vouchers, which you can redeem at self-serve kiosks around the property or at the cage. This semi-cashless flow helps reduce the amount of physical cash being passed around.

Our Winner’s Edge loyalty card tracks play on slots, table games and poker. Collected points convert to free play credits, food discounts and entries to selected promotions. The program is provincial, so the same card works across other Alberta casinos that participate. Registration takes roughly five minutes at player services and you only need to bring valid identification.

We also run the Elite55 Club for guests aged 55 and over. It adds an extra 10% off dining and weekly lunch offers on top of regular Winner’s Edge rewards. There are no membership charges for either Winner’s Edge or Elite55.

Hours and Entry

We are open from 9:30 AM until 5 AM every day. Entry is restricted to guests who are at least 18 years old, and we require government-issued photo ID at the door. Security checks IDs and cross-references the province’s self-exclusion lists before allowing access.

You do not need a membership or prior registration to visit us the first time. Once ID is verified, you can move straight to the gaming floor. Complimentary coffee and soft drinks are available throughout the venue. The Centre Eatery serves meals during busier hours for players who want to stay on site.

Our address is 421 12 Avenue SE in Calgary. The property can be reached using public transit, and we provide on-site parking as well. Parking space and crowd levels can be affected by events at the nearby Saddledome. There is no hotel on the property, so guests traveling from outside Calgary should organize accommodation separately.

Responsible Gaming

On arrival, every guest passes an ID check at the entrance. We maintain and use a self-exclusion database and must refuse entry to anyone who appears on it. Responsible gaming information is posted at player services and on digital boards near exits, with details on warning signs and support contacts.

Time and spending limits are managed by each player. The Winner’s Edge card keeps a record of your play across games, and you can request account statements from player services if you want to review your activity and keep an eye on your own patterns.

For quick reference, regular visitors usually keep in mind:

  1. Bring valid government-issued photo ID.
  2. Budget your play before you arrive.
  3. Use your Winner’s Edge card to track activity.
  4. Ask player services for help if you feel your play is getting out of hand.
